Here is a quick list of questions we commonly receive during the camp season.

01

Can my child bring a guest to camp?

Registered families may bring a guest to Summer Rec Day Camp for the day, up to 4 visits per family, at an additional charge of $15 per child, per day. We require the VISITOR'S parent to pre-register and pay 24-hours PRIOR to the visitor's arrival at the site. If a 24-hour notice is not given, the fee is $25 per child, per day. Unfortunately, visitors are not able to attend on the Special Event Days (Wednesday's).

To register a visitor, please call the Shelby Township Parks and Recreation Office at (586)731-0300.

02

Can my neighbor pick my child up from camp today?

If you are unable to pick up or drop off your child and need someone else to do so, please be sure to include their information on the authorization for release form. The individual will need to bring a valid license that matches the information on the release form. Please include all older siblings, family members, and nannys/babysitters that may come in daily to pick up your child.

03

Will there be any fieldtrips?

On site special events will be planned in place of offsite fieldtrips and will take place on Wednesday's.  There is no exra cost for these events as we have built the cost into the registration fee this year.

04

Does my child need to bring a lunch?

With the exception of pizza lunch days, we do not supply lunch to campers. It is the campers responsibility to bring a packed lunch to camp each day they attend. Please note that we do not have any refrigeration, so we recommend ice packs. If your child brings a lunch bag to camp, please ensure their first and last name is somewhere visible on the lunch box.

05

Can my child bring electronics to camp?

Children are allowed to bring small electronics to camp. We are not responsible for any electronics that are lost or broken during camp hours. We also recommend including your child's name and phone number somewhere on the electronic.

06

Why is the camp only 5 hours/day?

The camp is only 5 hours a day due to the fact that any organized child care that extends more than 5 hours a day must be registered with the State of Michigan as a licensed daycare. Also, the camp does not run longer than 8 weeks due to the fact that majority of our staff are college students and most leave early to go back to school.
